Valérie Mongrain has been appointed head of the Neuroscience research theme of the CHUM Research Centre (CRCHUM) for an initial four-year term starting on November 1, 2024. She also becomes a member of the CRCHUM Scientific Committee.
A researcher at the research centre since July 1, 2022, and a professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Université de Montréal, Valérie Mongrain currently holds the Canada Research Chair in Sleep Molecular Physiology.
She and her team are focusing their research on neuronal plasticity and the molecular determinants of sleep disorders, in the context of neurological or psychiatric conditions. Ultimately, the scientists aim to improve the lives of the many people who suffer from these sleep disorders.
Valérie Mongrain, who is deeply involved in scientific and academic life, succeeds Nathalie Arbour.
The CRCHUM management would like to thank Nathalie Arbour warmly for her commitment and the excellent work carried out during her term of office, which started in April 2017.
