As a leader in health care and biomedical science research, our research centre boasts a diverse community made up of prominent researchers recognized worldwide for their many achievements and discoveries.  

The CRCHUM consists of two research buildings that opened in 2013 and are LEED Gold certified.  

The work environment is bright and stimulating, with a breathtaking view of the city!  

The main building, which is fourteen stories high, boasts cutting-edge laboratories and equipment.  

The CRCHUM is home to a dozen core facilities offering specialized equipment and the latest in technological services, including a range of equipment available for self-service use. 

The building also has its own cafeteria, as well as change rooms with showers for staff members.  

The CRCHUM is one of the few hospital-based institutions in Quebec that covers the entire research spectrum: from basic research conducted in laboratories to population health research and the evaluation of medical care and practices to clinical trials involving drugs tested on patients.  

The CRCHUM offers a wide variety of research themes and approaches. Its research priorities fall into six areas of excellence, related to the hospital’s activities. These main themes promote interdisciplinarity among highly diverse areas of health care. 

Its proximity to the university hospital makes it an intellectually rich environment, conducive to the creation of many scientific collaborations, and the birthplace of numerous world-renowned achievements and discoveries. This asset creates an exceptional environment for accelerating research and innovation for the benefit of patients and the public.  

The CRCHUM boasts a very active, stimulating and ever-changing scientific environment. Every week, it hosts a number of events, conferences and scientific activities featuring world-renowned researchers and speakers.  

The Research Centre also organizes prestigious events such as the CRCHUM’s Scientific Day, with the participation of a Nobel Prize winner.  

The CRCHUM community is made up of people from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. This diversity not only enhances our social relationships, but it is also a major asset promoting innovation and creativity.  

Located in the core of downtown Montreal, the CRCHUM is close to many services and activities, regardless of the season! Old Montreal, the Latin Quarter, the downtown area, Chinatown and the entertainment district are all within walking distance. The CRCHUM is also very easy to access via public transit or bike.

An underground tunnel provides a direct link between the Research Centre and the Champ-de-Mars subway station. 

Many bike paths run near the CRCHUM and an enclosed area monitored by video cameras for greater security is available for bicycle storage.

There are also spaces nearby reserved for Communauto vehicles.
