Research Interests
Professor Chantal Dumoulin’s research focuses on women’s pelvic health, with a particular focus on urinary incontinence, prolapse and genitourinary syndrome of menopause. Her main areas of study revolve around understanding the aging process of the female uro-gynaecological system to gain insights into these conditions in older women.
Additionally, she is dedicated to exploring the prevention and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunctions and identifying women who may benefit from conservative interventions, such pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation.
Pr. Dumoulin’s expertise extends to conducting Cochrane systematic reviews and playing a key role every four years in the development of the International Consultation on Incontinence, where she chairs the chapter on conservative management.
Her methodological expertise includes the development and psychometric evaluation of the pelvic floor measurement tools, as well assessing treatment efficacy through randomized clinical trials, clinical prediction rule developments, and systematic reviews.
