Description

The laboratory of Marc Prentki is searching for highly motivated and talented post-doctoral candidates to work on the biochemistry, cell biology and translational applications of a novel metabolic enzyme that has recently been discovered in our laboratory: glycerol 3-phosphate phosphatase (G3PP). It controls glucose, lipid and energy metabolism and acts as a nutrient excess detoxification machine. Our recent work indicates that this enzyme is also implicated in aging and healthspan. We wish to assess its role in metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease, as well as senescence and healthy aging. This will be achieved using mouse models with nutritional excess or diabetes and studies in various organs and at the whole body level via changes in G3PP expression or pharmacological modulation.

The position offers an extraordinary team-based science environment located in the heart of Montreal Canada. The CRCHUM is a world renowned basic and clinical research center, the largest in QC, with multidisciplinary researchers from all over the world and many dedicated technological platforms. The selected candidate(s) will enjoy opportunities for exciting biomedical research, technological developments, education, and career development on translational projects.
