In 2013, a new centre at the forefront of global research was created: the CRCHUM.
Its proximity to the university hospital makes it an intellectually rich and stimulating environment, conducive to scientific collaborations and the advent of achievements and discoveries on an international scale.
To highlight its first 10 years and its boldness for discovery, let’s take a look at 10 figures.
- More than 283 researchers (regular, investigator or health professional status) integrated into our workforce.
- 2580: average number of students and postdoctoral fellows present each year.
- 356%: increase in research revenue. It rose from $66 million to $103 million.
- 425 Canada research chairs awarded.
- The number of service platforms, competitive infrastructures which support research teams, has nearly doubled from 10 to 19. 149 people working there now compared with 80 in 2013.
- Concentration of research axes from 8 to 6, with the creation in 2016 of the Innovation Hub and the independence of the International Health Unit.
- 35% increase in the number of peer-reviewed publications from 900 to 1214.
- 929 research contracts, or an increase of 53% in 10 years.
- On average, 385 new clinical or epidemiological projects approved by the ethics committee each year.
- Percentage of international collaborations: more than 56% in 2022-2023.
