Marie-Claude Bourgeois-Daigneault

Marie-Claude Bourgeois-Daigneault, recruited in 2018 by Anne-Marie Mes-Masson, is a researcher in the Cancer research theme and a natural leader, according to her colleagues.

Her contributions to social, educational and scientific life at the CHUM Research Centre (CRCHUM) are undeniable.

Ready and willing, Bourgeois-Daigneault an associate professor at Université de Montréal’s Department of microbiology, infectiology and immunology quickly integrated herself, shortly after her arrival, into the Biosecurity Committee, of which she has been the vice-president since 2019.

From 2018 to 2019, she held an interim position in the Institutional Animal Care Committee, until the Cancer research theme could find a replacement. An organizing committee member of the CRCHUM Research Day in 2019, she has more recently volunteered to be a part of the Working Group on Biobanks.

Making scientific life more dynamic

A big proponent of a collaborative and engaging research environment, Marie-Claude Bourgeois-Daigneault hasn’t spared any effort in revitalizing scientific programming in her research theme, especially in the years following pandemic shutdowns.

She advocated to reorganize the annual seminar series to not only include guests of honour but also to increase the active participation of the student and postdoctoral community in the presentations and scientific discussions.

Her colleagues note her talent as a manager, organizer and mentor for numerous students in the research theme, for whom she takes the time to give constructive and compassionate advice.

For all these reasons, Marie-Claude Bourgeois-Daigneault has earned the 2024 Award of Excellence in the “Institutional Contribution” category.

The official award presentation will take place on April 25, 2025, during the CRCHUM researchers’ retreat.
