A Banting postdoctoral fellowship for Alexandre Garneau
Alexandre Garneau, former doctoral student in Julie Lavoie’s lab (Cardiometabolic research theme), and current postdoctoral fellow in Dr Guillaume Canaud’s lab (Université de Paris, France), earns one of the prestigious Banting postdoctoral fellowships 2021–2022 awarded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
He was one of 23 recipients selected from 180 applications. His research project focuses on metabolism and diabetes: “Tackling overgrowth syndromes through precision medicine.”
The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded to postdoctoral fellows who have demonstrated national and international excellence in academic health science research and leadership.
This program provides funding of $70,000 per year for two years for these individuals to contribute to Canada’s economic, social, and scientific development.
