On June 11, the first edition of the Meritas Ceremony took place at the Pierre-Péladeau Amphitheatre of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM). Organized by the Student and Postdoctoral Affairs of the CHUM Research Centre (CRCHUM), this ceremony aims to recognize the talents and achievements of students in various academic and artistic fields while valuing their individual and collective contributions to the academic success and scientific influence of the research centre.

On this occasion, the recipients had the privilege of receiving prizes ranging from $1,000 to $15,000. Accounting for nearly $136,000, these scholarships are the result of a collaboration between the CRCHUM, the CHUM Foundation and its donors. They were presented to the recipients at the ceremony by Kathy Thi Bao Khanh Lê, Associate Director of Operations at the CRCHUM, Caroline Poupart, Vice-President of Philanthropic Development at the CHUM Foundation and Pascale Bouchard, President and CEO of the CHUM Foundation.

“The Meritas Ceremony not only celebrates the success of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows; it also aspires to inspire and motivate our entire academic community. By publicly acknowledging these achievements, we foster a culture of excellence and self-improvement. In other words, we want to give them the means to have the daring to look beyond the horizon.” —Kathy Thi Bao Khanh Lê, Associate Director, Operations, CRCHUM
