CRISM's goal is to translate evidence-based interventions against illicit and prescription drug misuse into clinical practice, community prevention, and health system changes. CRISM is a platform for conducting substance abuse intervention research, including community-based primary and secondary prevention, as well as randomized pharmacotherapy and psychosocial trials with collaborative treatment programs. CRISM is modeled after the U.S. National Institute of Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network and, like that NIH network, is a national consortium of academic researchers, service providers, people with lived and living experience and political decision-makers (for more information on CRISM, follow this link: http://www.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/f/44597.html).

CRISM provides a concrete mechanism to improve collaboration with non-academic partners and re-searchers. Funding provided to CRISM will be used to develop and maintain a national infrastructure to sup-port research and knowledge exchange on problematic substance use interventions delivered in clinical and community settings.

The coordinator will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and oversight of the national activities of CRISM, an initiative of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
