Job description 

Associate Professor Sarah Larney is seeking a full-time post-doctoral fellow to contribute to a growing program of research on the epidemiology of drug-related harms such as overdose, hepatitis C infection, and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne viral infections.

The fellow will play an important role in at least one of the following projects, depending on personal interests and skills:

  • Work to estimate hepatitis C and HIV incidence among people who inject drugs, including developing approaches to adjust for extended follow-up times during the COVID-19 pandemic, and assessment of changes in incidence over time.
  • Exploring changes in mortality trends in people who inject drugs, and estimating links between incarceration, experiences of homelessness, and mortality.
  • Characterizing the burden of STBBIs among people who inject drugs

Responsibilities 

The post-doctoral fellow will take a lead role in identifying research questions of interest, analysing data, writing publications, and presenting findings at conferences.

 

Qualifications

  • PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or other relevant field
  • Experience in analysing epidemiological data, especially routinely collected/administrative health data
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications

  • The stipend for this role is CA$50,000 per year, which can be increased if the fellow is successful in obtaining external funding (e.g. FRQS, CIHR).
  • The position is for two years (with extension for suitable candidates), and will be based at the Research Centre of the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM). 
  • The fellow will have access to all CRCHUM research facilities and resources. 
  • There will be opportunities to collaborate with colleagues within Québec, across Canada, and internationally.
  • Start date: as soon as possible
