Job description

We are looking for a creative bioinformatician seeking experience in a combined academic/industry setting. You work well independently and as part of a team and you have broad experience with NGS and transcriptomics data. As part of the team for our recently announced GAPP Project, you’ll be working directly with Dr. Petropoulos and with Juniper Genomics on our mission to improve IVF outcomes. This role can be in-person, hybrid, [or fully remote.]

The Petropoulos lab is a high profile academic powerhouse, at the forefront of understanding the multi-omics of early human development and fertility. Dr. Petropoulos’ work at the CRCHUM and the Karolinska uses cutting edge molecular biology techniques including single-cell genomic-sequencing, single-molecule RNA FISH, imaging, phenotyping, in vitro and in vivo models, and bioinformatics. Juniper Genomics is a Seed-stage venture-backed start-up using genomics and modern data science to improve IVF success rates and access, reducing the burden of trying to conceive. We are a team of expert operators and advisors in genomics, medicine, ethics and business; and we’re committed to rigorous science paired with thoughtful ethics, kindness, honesty, and respect for families’ informed decisions.

Qualifications
  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular/Cellular biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Medical or Master’s degree with equivalent work experience
  • Expertise with large-scale computing, high-throughput data handling, biological data analysis (e.g. RNA-seq, CNV/SNV/SV analysis, and Methylation)
  • Experience programming with scripting languages such as Python/R and Perl, Linux/Shell scripting, standard bioinformatics tools (e.g bcftools, GATK suite) as well as the design and implementation of relational databases
  • AWS experience is a plus
  • Priority will be given to those with a good knowledge of biology and previous participation in research activities/projects/publications
  • Impeccable organizational skills, drive and independence
