As part of the Prix du Québec 2024, the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation and the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications have chosen to highlight the excellence of researcher Anne-Marie Mes-Masson’s biomedical research work (Cancer research theme) by awarding her the Wilder-Penfield Prize.

The names of the 17 prize winners were revealed at an official announcement (in French only) on October 15.

“I accept this Prix du Québec on my own behalf, but I would also like to acknowledge all those who have contributed to our research programme over the years. This award confirms my belief that science advances more significantly when it is approached collaboratively, and that leadership is crucial to making progress in this area,” Anne-Marie Mes-Masson said in one of the government communications surrounding the announcement of the Prix du Québec 2024.

“I hope to serve as a role model for the next generation of scientists, and particularly for women in research, who have so much to contribute to scientific discovery.”

The Prix du Québec are awarded to outstanding individuals who contribute to the growth of their field of activity, push back the boundaries of knowledge and help raise Quebec’s profile internationally.

The official awards ceremony will take place on October 29, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. More than $550,000 in prizes and grants will be awarded to the winners at this event.
