On April 12, Line Beaudet, researcher at Université de Montréal’s affiliated hospital research centre, the CRCHUM, received the 2024 Prix reconnaissance awarded by members of the Parkinson’s disease and parkinsonian syndromes research group at Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Medicine (Department of neurosciences).
This rare distinction highlights Line Beaudet’s extraordinary career as the CHUM’s senior consultant in specialized care and clinical research at the nursing department up until 2023. Currently, she is also an associate professor at Université de Montréal.
On her glass trophy, the inscription from the Parkinson Québec team, one of her long-standing research partners, put it like this: “In honour of Line Beaudet, whose vision transcends science and touches real lives, she’s an inspiration for those who care for the people affected by Parkinson’s.”
Dr. Michel Panisset, a neurologist, researcher, co-director of the CHUM’S André-Barbeau Movement Disorders Unit (unité des troubles du mouvement André-Barbeau) and the event’s co-organizer, also emphasized Beaudet’s dedication to people living with Parkinson’s disease on behalf of his colleagues in the field of neuroscience.
She has been instrumental in training the nurses in our unit who were interested in Parkinson’s disease. They had the opportunity to benefit from her “coaching.” We thank her on behalf of the whole community. I wish her the best in her next adventure! –Dr. Michel Panisset
Living in the thick of it
In 2021, Beaudet and her research team in partnership with Parkinson Québec, and in collaboration with people living with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones, created the TAVIE™ in motion support intervention platform.
This platform includes, but isn’t limited to, informative, personalized video capsules which make available resources to help manage the challenges associated with Parkinson’s.
As indicated on Parkinson Québec’s website, these interactive sessions, led by a virtual nurse, are available for free in French and English.
Highlighting excellence
In 2019, the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) honoured Beaudet’s impressive career, awarding her the Prix Florence for Excellence in care for her work as a researcher and associate professor in Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Nursing.
The OIIQ thus recognized her remarkable work, projects and innovative practices in health care.
Beaudet’s research focuses on development, evaluation and transfer in the practice of interventions, created in collaboration with people living with chronic and/or neurological diseases, their care partners and other members in the fields of health care and community work.
Our sincere congratulations to Line Beaudet!
