Assistant professor Adelina Artenie is seeking a full-time Research Agent to contribute to a program of research on the epidemiology and prevention of HIV, hepatitis C infection and overdose among people who inject drugs.
Responsibilities
The research Agent will lead one or more projects focused on these topics:
- Potential projects include analyzing cohort or routine programmatic/administrative data to estimate HIV/HCV incidence trends and associated risk and protective factors for acquisition risk
- Synthesizing global estimates of HIV incidence, and examining associations between structural risk fac-tors and HIV/HCV outcomes (e.g., testing, infection status, uptake/adherence to treatment).
- There is scope to pursue research focused on Canada, in low- and middle-income countries and global-ly.
- The research Agent will take a lead role in analysing data, drafting publications, and presenting findings at meetings and conferences.
- Mentorship and support will be provided by Dr Artenie as well as a broad network of local, national and international collaborators. The position offers opportunities to contribute to timely and policy-relevant re-search questions, and to collaborate on other research projects and teams including global systematic reviews
Qualifications
- MSc in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or equivalent quantitative discipline
- Proficiency in analysing data from observational studies and in using a statistical software (eg, R, Stata)
- Previous research experience in a related area and demonstrated ability to publish in scientific journals
- Strong ability to work independently and think critically
- Ability to prioritize assigned tasks, find effective solutions to identified problems, multi-task and effective-ly manage short- and medium-term deadlines;
- Excellent ability to work independently and as part of a team;
What we offer
- Full time, 35 hours per week, daytime, Monday to Friday
- Duration: the initial appointment will be for one year, with possibility of extension
- Starting date: As soon as possible
- 20 days of vacation per year after one year
